Join us to learn about Maria Schuld's career as a Senior Researcher at Xanadu
Dec 9, 3pm SAST-GMT+2
This week we are pleased to hear from Maria Schuld who works as a senior researcher for the Toronto-based quantum computing start-up Xanadu, as well as for the Big Data and Informatics Flagship of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, from which she received her PhD in theoretical physics in 2017.
Maria co-authored the book "Supervised Learning with Quantum Computers" (Springer 2018) and is a lead developer of the PennyLane software framework for quantum differentiable programming. Besides her research on the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning, she has a postgraduate degree in political science, and a keen interest in the interplay between emerging technologies and society.
Join us on December 9th at 1500hrs SAST to learn more - you can JOIN the meeting here.
We have a cocktail party that comes soon after our meeting and its a great opportunity to make new friends.
Please make sure you RSVP so that you don’t suffer unnecessary delays when it’s time to connect!
Just a reminder that you should join the Google Group of our Africa quantum tech community. Don’t forget to invite your colleagues.
For people to join without a Google account, they will need to subscribe through an email.
We are now on Slack and you can join us here. It’s so easy and takes a few minutes.
Another important reminder, the Women In Quantum Summit III will be held Dec 14 - 17 and registration is now free and open.
We have put in a lot of work towards this event and it will be awesome, fun and full of lessons and activities. Please sign up and invite your friends.
If you would like to present or share on any particular issue or even want to make suggestions about how we can make the community better then let me know via the feedback form.
