Updates and ideas
Join us tomorrow (25 November) for the OneQuantum Africa meetup and hear from Kareem H. El-safty - an AI Engineer, working on Quantum Machine Learning and Computer Vision. Kareem is also a Qiskit Advocate and he has interesting perspectives on community building in quantum tech. Looking forward to learn more about his journey and quantum tech developments happening in Egypt.
Our next meeting is on November 25 at 1500hrs SAST and you can JOIN here.
Join us for the cocktail party which comes soon after our meeting and its a great opportunity to make new friends.
Please make sure you RSVP so that you don’t suffer unnecessary delays when it’s time to party!
As hinted at last weeks meeting, Amira and Conrad have exciting news to share with the rest of the community. Make sure you don’t miss out.
Thanks to Sahar for a wonderful presentation last week (slide deck here). Just a quick request, Sahar is looking for research ideas for her postgrad in quantum computing and chemistry. If you think you can help let us know on farai@estrapadus.com and we will be happy to make the match.
We had a brief discussion on quantum computing and VR and here is a link to an interesting discussion on the subject for enthusiasts. This can also be of interest. Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) is being explored as an educational tool in quantum computing. Read more here. Lastly, Fidelity innovation lab is prototyping VR systems for meeting financial advisors and explaining quantum computing. In conclusion, quantum is coming and it thrives on a strong foundation of classical technologies including VR.
Conrad has done a wonderful job and set up some digital spaces for us.
Here is the Google Group URL for our Africa quantum tech community.
For people to join without a Google account, they will need to subscribe through an email. We will discuss this and the need for these platforms during our meetings.
We are now on Slack and you can join here.
