Ideas and updates
Why does quantum tech matter?
The first quantum revolution resulted in groundbreaking technologies such as the transistor, solid-state lighting and lasers, and GPS. Now, technologies based on the laws of quantum mechanics, which govern physics on an atomic scale, will lead to a wave of new technologies that will create many new businesses and help solve many of todayâs global challenges unleashing the second quantum revolution. Quantum technologies show promise to deliver revolutionary improvements in terms of security, capacity, sensitivity, and speed, and will be the decisive factor for success in many industries and markets.
Here is a glimpse of what governments worldwide are doing to build a strong foundation for a quantum future.

On OneQuantum Africa this week we are pleased to host Desalegn Kassaw Belete, an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Researcher in Quantum Integrated Circuits at Debre Markos University, Ethiopia, and a Student Assistant in Quantum Computing at The Coding School (sponsored by IBM Quantum).
He has a Bachelor's degree focused on Electrical and Electronics Communication Engineering from Wollo University, Ethiopia.Â
Desalegn will talk about his work in the Generation and Manipulation of Photons from Quantum Photonic Integrated Circuits. His focus will be on how quantum technology can come out of the lab to the real world.
Register to join us here at 1500hrs SAST on March 31st
