About OneQuantum Africa
Vision
A supportive and authentic community platform for anyone active or interested in Quantum Tech no matter their background, skills, origin, gender, race, or goal.
Mission
Equip our members and the wider community with strong local networks and access to the global community by offering events, summits, online communities, and digital assets to them as well as mentoring, career and financial support.
OneQuantum Africa KPIs
More than 300 members and counting
> 25 highly engaged weekly meetings so far with groupfies and virtual cocktails, making quantum fun and memorable
At least 40 people upskilling and getting an education in quantum through opportunities shared via our newsletter, meetings, and communities, e.g. The Coding School, QWorld, QOSF, Qiskit, QHack, etc
Global quantum experts and leaders in Africa have been on our platform to share developments, connect broadly and shape quantum in the continent.
More than 15 people from across the continent have found a voice and presented at our events to showcase their work, inspire others and create local role models for our young people.
Our community provides access to the global quantum tech community and allows the world to learn more about quantum in Africa.
One of the fastest-growing and diverse tech communities in Africa in terms of stakeholder involvement (academics, investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers)
Last week we hosted Professor Terrill Frantz, Associate Professor of eBusiness & Cybersecurity at Harrisburg University, to discuss quantum workforce development and education. In his final remarks, he urged all of us in Africa to come together and focus our energy on solving our most challenging problems by taking advantage of open access resources and the variety of learning opportunities in the quantum tech ecosystem. On average, there are approximately 5 free and open quantum events per day. Check out Quantumapalooza for FREE online learning opportunities for the quantum community.

OneQuantum Africa meetings allow everyone to inject their voice…we are interested to know who is in the room and endeavor to make sure everyone has the best experience. Interestingly, our meetings do not only bring quantum tech people in Africa together but also have a global reach. This past week, we enjoyed welcoming attendees from Sri Lanka and Bolivia - quantum needs more diverse communities to have meaningful impact to all.
This week we are pleased to host Katanya Kuntz, Research Associate, Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo, and Science Team Coordinator for Canada’s first quantum satellite mission: Quantum Encryption and Science Satellite (QEYSSat).
She will introduce what Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is, how it works, and step through a basic protocol called BB84. Then build up to how you use QKD to generate secure keys between two Quantum Ground Stations using a satellite, such as QEYSSat, as a trusted node. She will also give a high-level overview of the upcoming QEYSSat mission, the Quantum Encryption and Science Satellite, and her role as the Science Team Coordinator.

Please invite all your quantum tech colleagues from the continent.
We are looking forward to seeing you and having a good discussion!
