Welcome back and Compliments of the Season

We hope you had an opportunity to be kind to yourself over the break, enjoyed some downtime, and reflected on all your achievements in 2021.

Check out Aiming for the Future: Quantum Computing in 2050 [Quantum Expert Panel: IEEE QCE 2021]

Happy New Year 2022,

What a great time we had at the OneQuantum Networking Event this past December - we had an opportunity to learn about ways to engage and collaborate across the emerging tech scene in Africa with other communities in blockchain, AI, and IoT.

The event was a success; we couldn't have done it without your support, participation, and engagement. 🙏🙏🏿🙏🙏🏿🙏🙏🏿

This year saw many firsts for us: OneQuantum Africa Summit 1, growing our newsletters reach past 3.5k subscribers and initiating more than ten local chapters on our continent (all the major regions of Africa at least have a chapter). To learn more, here is the recording of the Keynote speech delivered by Bayete Quantum Tech CEO and OneQuantum Africa Senior Advisor, Lesedi Modise. She talks about the state of quantum in Africa, key developments in the ecosystem and shares some key learnings and ideas from experts we engage with on our platforms.

We want to know how you think about our events to keep improving and would appreciate it if you could fill out a short survey that we have put together here OneQuantum Africa Summit Feedback Form - It should take you less than 3 minutes.

Looking forward, OneQuantum Africa Summit II is already in planning for May 2022... stay tuned.

Please reach out with your suggestions on topics, speakers, and more. We are always looking for creative ideas to make our events informative and exciting.

This past year, I had so much fun connecting with diverse communities, from high school students in Ouagadougou excited about Africa’s future to young adults in Palapye looking to complement their skills and explore new career pathways. I also got to chat with many of you across the world, including some who have been here long enough to witness tectonic shifts in technological trends and adoption patterns and have ideas on how we can all focus on the mutual prosperity of humanity this time as a collective. In all these conversations, one thing stood out, we all share the ambition to take Africa to the next level NOW.

At OneQuantum Africa, we are just getting started. Not many people from Africa are getting access to quantum tech resources. We need to get more people interned, mentored, and supported to develop professional skills in quantum.

Let’s keep the conversation going and lay down a solid foundation to make sure that we make the most of these exciting times in tech and investments on our continent. We have an opportunity to tap on our strong diaspora community and an active, youthful population to push frontiers and shape the tech revolution here on our continent today. All we need is to start where we are and build on what has been our strength all along; pragmatism, resilience, and practical innovation.

Once more, thank you all for your kind reception of our message about moving quantum forward in Africa. I am humbled by your drive and vision for our beautiful continent, and it has been a joy working with you.

We look forward to making 2022 a great year for quantum tech on our continent.
