You are invited to attend the Women in Quantum Summit III from Dec 14-16, please register now!
FREE, virtual and open to everyone!
The Women in Quantum (WIQ) chapter are hosting the Women in Quantum Summit III next week. It’s a great place to learn about careers, how to deal with imposters at work, transformational leadership tips from leading women in tech, and how young people are coming together to prepare for a quantum future - you can hear from a 15yrs old who founded a high school quantum club. Starting on Dec 14-16, it is a free and virtual event open to everyone. There are just a few hours of talks every day to make it easy to fit into your holiday schedules - you can come and go as you please.
At the end of the talks each day, there is a networking event where the event software matches you to other participants for short 5 minute one on one meetings which is a great way to make important connections.
The Women in Quantum chapter was established to give women a vehicle to highlight their contributions in quantum, and provide access to resources that would amplify their voices in the quantum community. WIQ also offers opportunities to collaborate and have fun with fellow female quantum academics, students, entrepreneurs, investors and government representatives - men are also welcome to join the organization or register for Summit III and other events.
You can read more about this event and other WIQ developments here and you’d be interested in seeing that Women in Quantum made Forbes magazine!
OneQuantum Africa meeting update
We had a wonderful session with Maria Schuld last week and thank you so much for all the support - most of you managed to attend and made great contributions. I keep getting a lot of encouraging feedback. Our last session for the year is on Dec 16 at 1500hrs SAST (We come back on Jan the 13th) and we will have Alasan Bah from Gambia. He studied physics at The University of the Gambia and won a European scholarship to study a joint Master's degree in Computational Science with the University of L'Aquila in Italy and University of Silesia in Poland. Alasan’s thesis was on 'Quantum Teleportation in the presence of noise.' He has worked briefly with an American financial services company called State Street in the position of Derivatives Specialist. Currently, Alasan is with HSBC Poland and serves as part of a global team of product control valuators. Outside work he is outgoing and a kin follower of developments in STEM like Data Science, Machine Learning and Quantum computing.
Join us on December 16th at 1500hrs SAST to learn more - you can JOIN the meeting here.
We have a cocktail party that comes soon after our meeting and its a great opportunity to end the year on high note with some new friendships.
